Introduction

Are you experiencing sound issues like distorted audio or humming? The woofers inside your JBL Xtreme 4 could be damaged. This guide will help you replace the woofers in your device.

The JBL Xtreme 4 contains two woofers. This guide applies to either woofer. The woofers are located under the outside cover on the front side of your device.

Be sure to disconnect your device from any external power supply before starting.

    • Use a T20 Torx screwdriver to remove the two 12.5 mm screws that secure the battery cover.

    • Using your fingernail or a spudger, pry open the battery cover.

    • Remove the battery by pinching the orange ribbon and gently pulling the battery upwards and out of its slot.

    • Insert the flat end of a spudger into the mesh cover seam beside the battery compartment.

    • Pry on both sides of the battery compartment until the mesh cover releases.

    • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two 8.5 mm screws on either side of the battery compartment.

    • Lift the speaker out of the cover.

    • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four 10.3 mm screws that secure the woofer.

    • Use an opening tool to lift the woofer out of the chassis.

    • Take care not to strain the connected cables.

    • Disconnect both of the cables by pinching the tab and pulling them off the terminals.

    • Repeat the procedure for the other woofer.
