Introduction

Use this guide to perform a battery cycle reset on your Samsung phone or tablet. You should perform this reset whenever you change the battery for your Samsung device.

Note: the device used is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, but the procedure is identical across all Samsung devices.

Note: Samsung account required.

Step 1

Download the Self Repair Assistant app (2.0.12)here.
You may be prompted with a "File might be harmful" warning. If so, select "Download anyway."
Open the "My Files" app.
Navigate to the "Installation files" tab on the left side of the screen.

The Self Repair Assistant is now working on one ui 6.1

Make sure to set your phone date to year 2022 before using this app version. If you don't, it will not work and ask you to download the latest version.

Do not use the latest version of this app as it will ask for Samsung-made battery serial number (really Samsung. copying Apple for this is anti-consumer).

Step 2

Select the app on the right side of the screen.
If the app doesn't show up on this panel, skip to the next step.
Select "Install" to confirm the app's installation.
Skip the next two steps.

If your app didn't show up on the "Installation files" tab, follow the next two steps to rename the file.
Navigate to the "Downloads" tab on the left side of the screen.
Long press the download file until an orange checkmark appears to the left of it.
Navigate to the bottom of the screen and select the "More" option.

Step 4

Select the "Rename" option.
Delete the .jar at the end of the app's name.
Your file should now appear in the "Installation files" tab.

On my S9 it installs but the window of the app closes instantly after opening.

Step 6

Select "Agree" to accept the Terms and Conditions.

Step 7

Select the "Battery" icon.
Select "Calibrate" to continue.
If you want to perform a fingerprint sensor calibration instead, follow this guide.

Step 8

Select the "Start" button.
Select the "Start" button again.
Select "Ok" to finalize the battery cycle reset.
Wait until the battery cycle reset finishes.
You may need to reset your device for battery cycle reset to apply.

It doesn't work on galaxy s20

Would be nice to have, but not possible. As the Prolog says:

Can you please add s23 series support for in the future as I have an S23 Ultra. Also for those of you who have the "try again after getting new version" error just change your device's date to Oct. 1st 2022 or earlier.

Ich habe diese Version für mein S22 plus heruntergeladen und installiert. Nach dem Start der App, wollte die App aktualisiert werden. Habe ich gemacht und jetzt will die App eine Seriennummer meines Akkus. Version 2.0.10

Kann ich das irgend wie auslesen lassen?

Use the latest version 2.0.12 in the unverified version of this guide. I tested it on devices in Samsung's Remote Test Lab and it should work for your S21FE.

at the back of the battery there is QR code or at the front I am not so sure which one to use. there is also serial number beside the QR code at the back

I changed the battery and saw that the battery level was 0%, but the battery still had an output of 3.6V.

The output voltage range of lithium batteries is 2.8V~4.2V, and the voltage corresponding to 0% power should be 2.8~3.2V
The battery cycle counter limits the capabilities of my new battery

Unfortunately even the latest version as of writing (2.0.12) doesn't work on the A52s. I installed and launched it on an A52s in Samsung's Remote Test Lab as this is how I tested all the listed devices in this guide and it said the model isn't supported. Indeed that is also correct as to why resetting the cycle count is important when replacing the battery. The phone limits how much of even a brand new battery's capacity is used based on the stored cycle count and calculated health percentage in the devices memory unless it's reset with this tool.

I'm not sure as it's not listed on Samsung's Remote Test Lab for me to test. You can try the latest version (2.0.12) on your Note10+ to see if it's supported.

My new battery was installed at a repair shop but they did not have software to recalibrate nor did they provide me with serial number. I was told to just allow battery to drain to 0%, then recharge to 85% a few times and it will recalibrate after a few cycled. NOT TRUE. How can I recalibrate new battery in my S20+ 5G without Serial Number of new battery? Also the name of APK file in link above differs from documenation ... file starts with GPT. but documenation shows file name should have been SRA... IS THIS GPT FILE SAFE? I have very low tech skills -- just a retired grandma who wants the battery to hold a charge so I can keep my phone. Thx for any help!
