Introduction

This guide shows how to remove the old engine air filter and install a new one on a 2018–2024 Jeep Wrangler (JL) equipped with the 3.6 L Pentastar V6.

Dirty or clogged air filters can hamper engine performance—replacing it regularly will keep your Jeep running well.

Follow the steps below to access the filter housing, swap the filter, and secure everything back in place.

    • Locate the engine air filter housing in the engine bay. It's near the front left corner.

    • Unclip the four clips that secure the top of the air filter housing.

    • Use a 10 mm socket to remove the two hex bolts holding the housing.

    • Lift the housing cover, pull out the old air filter, and clean out any debris inside the housing.

    • Place the new air filter into the housing.

    • Make sure the housing is seated in its single correct orientation before fastening.

    • Thread and tighten the two 10 mm hex bolts back into the housing.

    • Press down on the housing lid and re‑engage the four fasteners.

Conclusion

With the fasteners clipped and bolts tightened, the new air filter is installed and the housing is secure.
