Introduction

The motherboard is one of the most important components in any computer. The speakers, screen, SSD, and other key parts plug into the motherboard, which facilitates communication between them all.

If other repairs have failed to solve your laptop's issues, your motherboard may be damaged or faulty. This guide provides simple instructions with images to guide you through the process of replacing the HP Chromebook 14a-nf009nr's motherboard.

Step 1

Remove the two 13 mm screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Remove the two 6.6 mm screws with the Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Step 2

Slide an opening tool along the edges of the back cover to remove it, revealing the components of the laptop underneath.

Step 3

Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the 6.5 mm screws from the motherboard covering.

Step 4

You will need to peel back tape to access the plugs for the following steps. Some plugs may have a locking clip which you will need to flip up to unlock.
Unplug the battery from the motherboard.
Unplug the speakers from the motherboard.
To help prevent damage, remove each plug gently.
