A headphone driver is the transducer element responsible for converting electrical signals into sound waves. It typically consists of a diaphragm that moves to create sound, and it plays a crucial role in determining the overall sound quality of headphones. A failing driver can cause your device to have distorted or unbalanced sound, loss of bass response, and muffled sound in general.

Before using this guide, make sure to review the troubleshooting page about audio distortion. There could be many other easy-to-fix things in this device that don't require changing the driver.

    • This replacement guide will only cover one of the ear pads. The same exact steps apply to both.

    • Take a spudger (plastic or metal) and carefully insert it into the seam between the ear pad and the driver housing.

    • Using a metal spudger (like the one pictured) can cut you if not used correctly. Please be mindful of where you insert it if you choose to use one.

    • Pry around the ear pad in a circular path until it fully releases.

    • The gray foam component shown is an additional protective component of the ear pad. You can remove it with your hands if needed, without any tools.

    • After removing the ear pad, keep the device positioned with the under-side facing up.

    • Remove the six 6.1 mm Phillips #00 screws from the driver housing.

    • This replacement guide will only cover one of the device's drivers. The same steps apply to both.

    • With a spudger (metal or plastic), carefully remove the interior plate component. Do this by applying an upward force on the interior area with ridges and a glue spot

    • This component has wires still connected to it, so don't be too aggressive when popping the component off

    • Flip over the popped-off plate component. Use the soldering iron to burn off the adhesive glue protecting the innards of the device in this area

    • The soldering iron is extremely hot. Please be careful when using it

    • With the soldering iron, go in a circular path around the underside of the component where the glue binds it together (the white lining)

    • The component should pop off after using it (a spudger might be needed to get more leverage when popping it off)

    • Use a spudger to remove the adhesive layer surrounding the driver component

    • The actual driver is the metal disc in the center. The entire driver component includes everything inside the white lining (pictured in the second image)

    • Insert a phillips #00 screwdriver into the hole in the center of the actual driver

    • With upward force, pop off the driver component

    • You will have to replace the entire driver component pictured, since there's no given way to retrieve the actual driver. If done, it could risk damaging interior components
