Hello, my name is Jacob Branco and I'm a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth studying Electrical Engineering.

I've always had this image of being an engineer since I was young. I like to design and create new useful things and as a kid, many adults had told me it would be a good fit. Well, I wish they would've told me that it's not as easy as legos and pillow forts! After getting my degree, I want to do important and fulfilling work. I want to use my skills to help advance technology, create new ideas, and make positive changes in the world.

My mom and I have a close relationship and she means the world to me. She's pushed me to do well and I wouldn't be here without her. This picture was from my high school graduation where I went to Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech. I graduated with honors and learned precious skills as I went through the Engineering shop. This has helped me to prepare for what was to come incredibly. I learned many programs used in multiple majors, used engineering processes to design and problem-solve, and of course, I learned to think and imagine.

One of my most recent repairs was on my computer. I had to do many things to get it back up and running and in this process, I learned a lot about how they work and its components. I learned to install RAM, GPU, and the SSDs in a computer. I also learned more about computer BIOS settings and how their roles affect the outputs.

Projects/Achievements:

  • Computer repair: used problem-solving and resources to help diagnose and repair the computer ranging from reinstalling windows to resetting hardware.
  • In GNBVT I made in a group of 2 an underwater controllable ROV where it could swim agily and collect and deposit small PVC rings out of a pool.
  • Graduated with honors in the top 10% of my class
