Hello! My name is Charli Spilecki.

Education

I received my Bachelor's in Communications from UT Austin in 2017 and am currently attending Austin Community College to earn a second Bachelor's degree in Applied Science in Software Development.

I chose this major in order to make a smooth career change into software development, which I gained an interest in after seeing how much my husband enjoyed it (he works as a software engineer and has done so for his entire professional career). I participated in a Full Stack Coding Bootcamp at The University of Texas in 2021, which solidified my decision to enter into this new field.

The Future

Once I attain my degree, I hope to immediately begin working as a developer. I plan to start as a QA Engineer/Tester and then work towards writing more code instead of testing it as I become more comfortable and knowledgeable. After that, who knows? I have yet to decide if I'd like to focus more on back-end or front-end work, or perhaps I'll even try to focus on both equally.

Skills

Since I've worked in a wide range of industries since graduating college, I would say I have a varied repertoire of skills. Some of my most notable are below:

  • Coding experience with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, React, Bootstrap, and more
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with many programs and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, Outlook, Zendesk, Slack, Teams, etc.
  • Interpersonal communication, communicating verbally and/or textually, and working in teams
  • Organization, cleanliness, and orderliness
  • Content creation - especially training documents/resources or presentations

Repair Experience

I don't have much repair experience, but I would love to learn enough about sewing to hem a pair of jeans, fix a ripped seam, and complete other simple and similar tasks.

Hobbies

I love to read, spend time with my pets, and watch reality TV with my husband. When I'm not doing any of the above, I enjoy online shopping and grabbing brunch with friends.

This Project

This project relates to me in that I want to personally do more to protect our environment and reduce my contribution to excess trash and waste.

I've never been a very handy person, so learning how to repair items on my own is exciting and long overdue. I'm looking forward to gaining more knowledge about what items around my own home I can fix.

Fun Facts

I have FOUR pets! Two cats and two dogs.

See my pets below! In order of appearance: Fig, Beau, Teddy, and Luka
