Howdy partner! My name is Jaier Sharpless, I'm a UNT student majoring in biochemistry.

Innovative background

I've Loved chemistry since I was little, I used to mix up baking soda and vinegar to watch the reaction it made. I then made little rockets out of it, although only fueled by chemical reactions, they went relatively high. Later on I would keep adding household chemicals together until i got a reaction from it...or until it went kaboom. I was a pretty destructive kid, always making some sort of corrosive concoction. However, after destroying something I always repaired it. So I would say I'm skilled in repairing things like smoke detectors and ceiling fans. I've competed in tons of science fairs, but never won because apparently your project isn't allowed to explode before it can be judged...

Time spent working on tech

Block Image

Later in high-school I studied medicine. I was obsessed with how the body worked and how the technology we use to heal it operates. I would study machinery like "MRIs" and "X- rays" as a hobby. Later i would dismantle old/broken phones, watches, and computers to extract the gold out of it. I became really good at doing this, and currently have a little container full of tiny gold from all that i extracted.

My contribution

I have a passion for repairing things and turning trash into treasure. I feel like i'm giving the item a second chance at life! I look forward to contributing to Ifixit's mission however I can!!
