Hello, my name is Megan Wood. I am a third-year computer science student at University of California, Davis. I chose this major because I have always been interested in technology and problem solving. Throughout my classes, I have enjoyed learning how to code.
Aspirations
After earning my degree, I want to be a software engineer and potentially work in mobile development or website development.
Skills
I have knowledge of Python, C, C++, x86 assembly, HTML, CSS, and MATLAB. I also have experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
Projects/accomplishments
I have fixed my laptop that had an issue with the hard drive. I have also made quite a few coding projects that I have been proud to complete. One example of this was a large project to create the game Battleship where the player has the option to play against another person, against a computer with a strategy, or have computers play against each other.
Here is a screenshot of how it looks to start playing the game of BattleShip.
Repair experience
I can do small household repairs, sew, and fix software issues. I would like to do electrical fixes and fix components on a computer. Since I work with software a lot, having knowledge on how to do computer hardware fixes would be helpful.
Groups/Memberships
I have been a member of the Women in Computer Science club at UC Davis since 2022.
Hobbies
I enjoy playing guitar, traveling, learning languages, and going on walks.
Here is an image I took when I traveled to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower. I really enjoyed trying the food, learning the language, and learning about the culture while in France.
Project Relation
This project will help me learn more about how electronics that I encounter in my daily life function, and how to repair them when something goes wrong.
