Hello! My name is Patrick Abelgas. I am a dedicated Mechanical Engineering student at California State University, Los Angeles, passionate about applying engineering principles to impact our community positively. Being surrounded by parents who are architects has convinced me to pursue a career in engineering. My interest in STEM has always been ignited by my dedication to inclusive design and innovation and my desire to do research.

Experience:
BOOST Program (May 2023 - July 2023): I had the privilege to volunteer for the BOOST Program, where I contributed to developing a smart garden irrigation system. This project aimed to engage students with disabilities in outdoor activities, where I played a crucial role in designing safe and efficient solutions.
LA's Best (June 2019 - August 2019): As a volunteer, I supported summer program teachers for children in grades K–5 during program activities.
St. Ignatius of Loyola Church (April 2018 - February 2020): I served as a Teacher Assistant, conducting activities for K-5th grade students during Sunday school Liturgies.

Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, soldering, laser cutting, 3D printing, voltage regulation, Microsoft Office Suite, and coding languages (Java, JavaScript, C++, and Python).

Projects:
Smart Garden Irrigation System (May 2023 - July 2023): I designed and implemented an IP67-rated transparent electrical enclosure and coded an Arduino-based moisture-sensing garden system, where I collaborated with peers to bring this project to life.
ROV Rover (August 2022 - December 2022): I designed and constructed a PVC ROV for underwater exploration, optimizing its performance through meticulous testing and troubleshooting.
