Hello, my name is Rory O'Neal. I am a sophomore at the University of North Texas with a major in performance theatre. I aspire to be a voice or film actor, but I grew up wanting to be an engineer.
I grew up with a construction worker for a dad and a jeweler for a mother, so I was raised to know how to use every tool from an excavator to a Dremel. I also had the innate need to know how everything worked, so I would disassemble whatever I could get my hands on. Since then, fixing things has become a bit of a hobby, and I can figure out how to fix almost any mechanical issue.
I worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and welder, and this picture is from a particularly difficult job. On this job it was my job to fill the excavator bucket with liquid concrete and, with a 180 degree turn in between, lower it down a wall. I am glad for the time I spent in construction and the things I learned, but I'm happy I am no longer in that industry.
