Introduction

Hi, my name is Madelyn Mei and I'm a third year civil engineering major emphasizing in structures at UC Davis.

Aspirations

My current professional aspiration is a career in structural engineering in a consulting firm. I wish to work with a knowledgeable team of engineers to meet the demands of clients and architects in the design of buildings and other infrastructure projects. I want to pursue a career at a company that works with many diverse kinds of projects that offer unique challenges and opportunities to learn.

Projects

My team and I designed, coded, and prototyped a device that detects and alarms when a user's mask is dropped below their nose. This project was for a course project in fall 2020. We decided to pursue this type of device because it was very relevant during the height of covid. Our team had to meet virtually and delegate tasks to accomplish individually. We used an Arduino uno for our device as well as household products to produce our prototype. We were then able to pitch our device to professional engineers over zoom.

Repair Experience

I don't have much repair experience. I've fixed a few small household items before by tinkering around and trial and error. I'm curious about how things work and like to take them apart to see how they function so I'm excited to learn and share the fixes to common problems.
