This is a guide for replacing a faulty battery in the OnePlus 5. Replacing the battery does not void the OnePlus 5's warranty. No special skills are needed for this replacement. The battery contains toxic chemicals which are hazardous so be careful not to puncture it.

    • Notice the cable that goes across the yellow battery from the top to the bottom. There is a connector for this cable at the bottom of the battery.

    • Remove this cable by pushing a spudger underneath the connector and popping it out.

    • Notice the two clear adhesive flaps overlapping on the left and right side of the yellow battery.

    • Peel back these flaps by running the spudger between the the flaps and battery, seperating the adhesive.

    • When reassembling the device, the spudger is not needed. Fold the flaps over so that the sticky side touches the yellow battery and connect the adhesive.

    • Be careful not to push too hard with the nylon spudger as you may pierce the battery and release toxic chemicals.

    • Remove the yellow battery by pulling up and to the left on the green pull-tab.

    • This will create a ripping sound. This is because of the adhesive on the back of the battery and is completely normal.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
