Introduction

This guide will walk you through the steps to replacing the internal laptop battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad L490.

For this guide you will need the Spudger and the Phillips #0 screwdriver. This guide does not have any difficult steps other than disconnecting the connectors carefully.

    • Completely shut down your device and disconnect any peripheries before beginning.

    • Lay the laptop down with the lower case facing up.

    • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove eight 3 mm screws that secure the lower case.

    • Lift the lower case up and off of the chassis.

    • If necessary, insert an opening pick into the gap between the lower case and chassis and pry around the entire perimeter until the lower case fully releases.

    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the three m2 x 2.5 mm screws that secure the battery.

    • Lift the battery up and out of the chassis.
