Check the drain pan for cracks or rust. If any are visible, using an epoxy putty on the small holes can be then patched. If the damage is severe then the pan will need to be replaced.

If the drain line is clogged. Firstly, advised to check the AC manual to find where the drain pipe is. Using a long, thin, and flexible object, such as a flexible drain brush, clean the drain pipe of all the dirt.

Check the filter for ice and dirt, wash the filter thoroughly as most AC filters are washable. If there is excess ice and dirt, replacing the filter is advised.

Check the outside unit for dirt buildup and or any damage. In most cases, a thorough wash will be more than enough.

If the AC is showing signs of hard starting, such as sputters or turning on the AC then suddenly shutting off. Using a hard start kit on the compressor will do wonders to include prolonging the lifespan of the AC.

Last but not least, check the AC exhaust duct for loose ends, cracks, and dirt build up. Clean thoroughly as if clogged or damage since that can cause leaks in the AC as well as cause health problems to the home occupants.
