How to Factory / Hard Reset Nokia Lumia 520

Introduction

If you forgot your Screen Password lock, if you want to erase your personal data, if you have a problem with applications, you can perform a Hard / Factory reset.

Warning!!!
Resetting your phone will erase all content stored on your phone, including apps and games (along with app data and game progress), text messages, call history, music, photos and more.

Resetting your Windows Phone will return it to the state it was in the first time you turned it on. All of your personal content will be erased, and the phone will be restored to its factory settings.

    • 1. Turn off the phone.

    • 2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power On buttons.

    • 3. When you feel a vibration, release only the Power On button.

    • 4. You will see on the screen an exclamation mark (!).

    • 5. Press the keys in this order: • Volume Up > Volume Down > Power > Volume Down •

    • The phone will restart.

    Didn’t work for me, I have the explanation mark, but as soon as I press the power button after vol up and dwn, it goes away and starts as usual.

    I can see the exclamation symbol, but it shows only the exclamation symbol, no more

    Worked well eventually. Note to self: read instructions CAREFULLY, but it worked after I read them properly!

    Yes it worked great. I did remove the sim and sd cards beforehand so as not to accidentally erase my saved data . Reinstalled them after startup and my phone is now back to functioning as I want it. Thanks for the hand.

i have a challenge with my Lumia 520 i cant see the apps the screen is fine its difficult to format and everything in the phone is ok just that i cant use the phone its been given me issues and i have taken it for repairs they confirmed it needs to be flashed but i dont know what to flash it with as all the technicians i took it too couldn't flash the phone

hi Just to clear your doubt…Your nokia will never get stuck on the gears thing….maybe take a couple of hours…

I have a password in my phone but the error is “try again in 164325 minutes“ so the only way is the hard reset, but my volume up were broken. What am i suppose to do? Is there any other way to fix this? Or I’ll just wait for that 123456 minutes to be over!?
