Introduction

This is a guide on how to descale an AGLUCKY HZB-12/H Countertop Ice Maker. Without regular cleaning, the ice machine will start to slow down and run inefficiently. Mineral build up will clog the machine and cause the sensors to stop working. This leads to the machine running with an empty reservoir and malfunctioning when trying to freeze ice.

    • Either hold a container below the drain plug or place it over the edge of a sink.

    • Pull the plug quickly and let the machine fully drain.

    • To ensure as little spillage as possible, pull the plug and move your hand out of the way quickly.

    • Use a kitchen scale to measure your solution in fluid ounces.

    • Take your cleaning solution and pour about two ounces of solution into a container.

    • Make sure to balance your scale to 0 ounces before measuring by pressing the "tare" button while the container is on the scale.

    • If you’re using a different descaling solution than the Tupkee brand that is pictured, read the instructions for your solution to see the ratio of water to solution that is recommended.

    • Add the solution to one half gallon of filtered or distilled water.

    • Mix the 2 ounces of solution into the water.

    • 1/2 of a gallon of water is also approximately 1.9 liters.

    • Pour the solution and water mixture into the machine reservoir.

    • Press and hold the power button for 3-5 seconds until the indicator lights flash red simultaneously to start the self-cleaning cycle.

    • Only fill the reservoir to the max fill line. There will be a small amount of leftover solution and water mix.

    • As the self-cleaning cycle runs, use a toothbrush dipped in the cleaning mixture to remove any visible buildup in the machine.

    • Make sure to brush carefully and be mindful of the moving parts as to not break any small attachments.

    • Once the self-cleaning cycle is complete, drain the solution from the machine following the same procedure in Step 2.

    • You'll know the self-cleaning cycle has finished once the indicator lights stop flashing red.

    • Refill the machine reservoir with cool water and press the power button to run it as normal for clean ice.

Conclusion

We recommend repeating this descaling and cleaning process once every 2-6 months, depending on the hardness of water used in the machine.

Any information on diagnosing technical issues with the unit not making ice?

Hi there! It looks like the owner's manual has a short troubleshooting section: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdf...

If you don't find success there, I'd recommend posing the question in our Answers forum, with a bit more detail describing your exact issue: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/Ask

We hope that helps!
