Introduction

This fast fix is to fix the buttons on a 2006 Honda Cr-V key fob. It is a very simple and easy fix. You will only need one tool and the replacement part.

  1. X5TJExAji4GvWOC1
    • You will need to take the key off the ring.

  2. RscrAm5PRNvFRr6m
    • The second step is to take out the little screw on the back side of the key.

  3. Pe3se4kR5bFcVoDo
    • Unclip the back part of your key.

    • This part is super fragile.

  4. PvSDn6hK6N3TZtyR
    • You will push the buttons from the front side to have the middle piece fall out.

    • Then you will unclip the middle part. There is one clip on each side of this piece. They are super fragile and can break easily.

    • Then push the buttons from the front side to push out a rubber insert.

  7. LGCexcFrKHKOKIVh
    • Then peel out the mother chip and replace your rubber insert.

The 2005 key has plastic buttons. I wonder why they changed to soft buttons. That would be less durable.

How do you remove the key from broken fob and put in new fob so you don’t have to incur the cost of cutting new key?

Just open the fob, like in this tutorial. The key is just a piece of metal.

Then place the key in a new fob (or replace only the fob plastic case for a cheaper solution).
