Introduction

This guide will walk you through the steps to disassemble the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4, model CHU-ZCT2U. This might be necessary to replace anything from the internal rechargeable battery to the joysticks and anything in between.

    • All the screws are the same in the controller (Phillips's head).

    • Use a plastic spudger to open the case. Try not to scratch the plastic.

    In order to open the case, you will need to unlatch 4 clips holding it together. I've written a guide to help people find and open them.

    • Be careful opening the case because there is a ribbon cable holding the 3 halves together.

    • The plastic for the lightbar will look different from mine because it's fragile and it broke.

    • Remove the battery and the screw underneath it.

    • The ribbon cable slots through the rectangular hole in the plastic beneath.
