Introduction
Use this guide to replace a dim or burnt out low-beam headlight bulb in your 2005-2009 Subaru Outback.
Having functional low-beam headlights is vital for driving safely in low light conditions. Thankfully, replacing the bulb is a quick and low cost fix that requires no special skills and a few tools. Gloves are recommended to keep the bulb clean, as if it gets dirty, its life can be shortened.
Before using this guide, ensure that your car is off, the engine is cool, and that the car is secured.

Pull the hood lock on the driver's side.

Reach under the hood.

Push the lever under the hood to the left.

Pull the hood up.

Remove the plastic clip holding the windshield washer fluid tank by wedging a flat head screwdriver under the head of the clip and then pulling up on the clip.

Push the tank forward and out of the way.

Remove the plastic clips holding the air duct on the passengers side by wedging a flat head screwdriver under the head of the clip and then pulling up on the clip.

Grab the duct with both hands and pull up and back.

Place the new bulb in the socket.

The bulb must be inserted with the metal tab pointing downwards.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
