Background Information

Announced the morning of May 7th, 2024, Apple's "large" iPad Pro has been refreshed for the first time since 2018 alongside the new 5th generation 11-inch model. Now marketed as 13" instead of 12.9", the 7th generation features a new Ultra Retina XDR display with "tandem OLED" technology, debuts with the new M4 SoC, and supports the new Apple Pencil Pro. The front-facing camera has been moved to the landscape edge and the base storage has been increased from 128 to 256 GB.

The 5th generation 11-inch iPad Pro and new 13-inch iPad Pro are Apple’s first devices to use the M4 chip.

At 5.1 mm thick, the 13-inch iPad Pro is the thinnest Apple product ever (besides for the Polishing Cloth), beating out the 5.4 mm-thick iPod nano (7th generation) from 2012.

The 13-inch iPad Pro starts at $1299 and is available in either Silver or Space Black.

Identification

The 7th generation 13-inch iPad Pro is thinner than the outgoing model. The aluminum back case extends over the camera bump and the charging port is USB-C.
