Background
The Wacker Generator GP 6600 is powered by a Honda engine mainly used to power tools for construction, home projects, rental and demanding applications. It includes a step-start generator technology with AVR (automatic voltage regulator), meaning they create a consistent voltage output. This feature protects the generator from the power output changing irregularly.
In July 2021 the Wacker Generator GP6600 has had about 321,160 recalls. With unit numbers GP6500, GP6500E and GP8000E, the reason being that an unlocked handle can pinch consumers fingers against the generator frame when moving the generator, posing finger amputation and crushing hazards. The company for the GP6600 Generator received eight reports of injuries, seven resulting in finger amputations and one in finger crushing. What the company recommends to do is to return the Generator unless the locking pin has been inserted to secure the handle in place before and after moving the generator, and contact Generac for a free repair kit.
Identification
The Wacker Generator GP6600 has a very symmetrical shape, characterized by its bright yellow gas tank with gray bars surrounding the machine. There are two wheels placed under the motor with a handle sticking out the opposite side with a rubber grip for better mobilization. On the left side of the GP6600 label where you will also find the control panels, outlets and the on/off switch. It weighs 198 pounds and is 27x21x21.2 inches.
