OpenSUSE is a free, open-source, community-driven Linux distribution developed by the openSUSE Project and is backed by SUSE Linux and Novell. While SUSE has always been considered to be open source, openSUSE opens the development process up to both users and developers. Prior development was accomplished by SUSE's in-house developers.
