Background
The JBL Pulse 5 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that comes equipped with fully programmable RGB LEDs via an app on your smartphone. This device was originally released on May 2, 2022 with an msrp price of $250, making it one of JBL’s more expensive speakers compared to others by the brand. This speaker offers a unique lightshow feature which is exclusive to the Pulse 5, which has been upgraded and improved upon from its predecessor the Pulse 4. Along with that the Pulse 5 is also waterproof (IP67 rating) and comes with JBL’s PartyBoost feature, which allows you to connect multiple speakers together wirelessly. Some of the most common issues of the JBL Pulse 5 include the speaker not charging, not turning on or off, crackling/muffled/distorted sound, as well as the PartyBoost feature not being available when connected to a computer.
Identification
The JBL Pulse 5 is easily recognizable by its cylindrical appearance, with an acrylic screen covering the entire cylinder for the lights. It has the JBL Logo placed directly on the front of the speaker in a silver color. This speaker is about 10inches tall and typically comes with a black border encasing the LED cone. The buttons and USB charging chords can be found on the back of the speaker, below a short safety strap. To further identify the JBL Pulse 5, the subwoofer is found on the bottom, while the true 'speaker' part is found on the top, inscribed with an exclamation point. To check the model number, view the bottom of the device, where the subwoofer is located. The number is located directly below the dot of the exclamation point, and should read "JBLPULSE5BLKAM"
