Background and Identification
Announced at the October 4th, 2015 #madebygoogle event and released November 4th, 2016, the Google Home is a voice activated, smart home speaker with built in Google Assistant. It is the first smart speaker from Google (to compete with the Amazon Echo), the first generation coming before the Home Mini and Home Max.
This speaker comes in white with seven interchangeable base colors, from black to gray, gold metallic to bright purple. The Model is Home and the serial number is located on the bottom of the device.
The Google Home is compatible with music services such as Google Play, Spotify, Youtube, and Pandora. Beyond music, it can communicate with Google ChromeCast, Google Nest Thermostat, and the Phillips Hue Smart Bulb system. The Personal Assistant is supported by Google search technology, allowing it to answer questions and improve and customize search results over time.
