General
The Elli Flexpole is a flexible charging solution developed by Elli, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, aimed at addressing the challenges of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Unlike traditional charging stations, which require extensive groundwork and electrical installation, the Flexpole can be deployed more quickly and with fewer infrastructural modifications. It is designed to be a semi-mobile charger, meaning it can be easily relocated as needed, making it suitable for temporary or evolving charging needs, such as events or areas with fluctuating demand.
The Flexpole typically offers fast-charging capabilities, allowing EVs to recharge in a short amount of time. This is made possible by an integrated battery storage system that reduces the need for a powerful direct connection to the grid. The charging system can deliver high power outputs even in areas where the electrical grid may be weaker or less developed. It serves as a bridge solution while more permanent charging infrastructure is built out.
