General Information

  • The Nomad Jukebox Zen was an MP3 player released by Creative Labs on October 14, 2002.
  • This was the first in the 'Zen' lineup.

Features

  • Casing
    • This device features an anodized aluminum case.
    • This gave the device a very durable and rugged feel.
  • Display
    • 132 x 64 pixel EL backlit display, in Cool Ocean Blue
  • Battery
    • The Nomad Jukebox Zen advertised a 14 hour battery life on continuous audio playback.
    • The battery was non-removable on this device.
  • Storage
    • This device used a traditional style hard-drive with 2.5" discs.
    • This resulted in a very large amount of storage for its time.
    • The base model had 20Gb of storage while other models allowed for 40Gb and 60Gb depending on the model.
  • Connectivity
    • Connectivity was done through USB 1.1 and Firewire.
    • Later models were upgraded to USB 2.0.
    • An optional wired remote allows the device to connect to FM radio.
