BIOS
To boot from a USB stick, you may have to turn off Fast Boot and Secure Boot: How to boot the system from USB flash drive/CD-ROM.
Note: You do not have to turn off VMD in BIOS as long as you have
vmd module enabled in your initram image wikipedia:Intel_Rapid_Storage_Technology#Intel_VROC_(Virtual_RAID_on_CPU).will also display Product Name as and BIOS Version as, e.g., B9400CEA.301.
Audio
This laptop requires firmware in order for the soundcard to work. See Advanced Linux Sound Architecture#ALSA firmware.
Suspend mode
By default the system supports mode, which has increased energy consumption during sleep state:
# cat /sys/power/mem_sleep [s2idle] deep
To fix that you might want to switch to S3 mode (also known as or deep) by appending to kernel parameters.
